In a report from Inquisitir (no not the ones from Rebels) Disney has tied up a deal with Netflix to feature Star Wars films shortly after their theatrical release, possibly starting with Rogue One.
June may also see the arrival of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rogue One takes place between the events of Star Wars Episode V and VI. Rogue One comes to Netflix just six months after its theatrical release, and Netflix says that it will be its only Star Wars release in 2017.
Rogue One would be a great addition to Netflix, however I do not see the issue with putting The Force Awakens on Netflix. The film is already on the Canadian Netflix. We’ve read reports in years past about Disney wanting Netflix to be the venue where all Star Wars movies and TV shows will live after its premiere. Perhaps this is the first step. The original and prequel trilogy might be a little more difficult to release on Netflix, but one hopes that one day all of Star Wars will live on Netflix. It’ll definitely be more convenient.
